Walk this way

Title goes with out saying...

Here I sit at the Paradise Rock Club, in Boston MASS.

We drove from NYC today. Fine drive. It was awesome when we got to the Mass Pike and there was only one booth open. It is Easter weekend. Who the hell will be driving thru Massachusetts? (apparently a ton of people) The line was long.

Tomorrow Philly. Pics will be posted sometime in chicago.

"Hey Scenesters", is by The Cribs.
With whom, I am on tour with now. I am really excited to be on tour again. Selling merch and driving are my main jobs. Burton is the TM. Cool to work with him again. The guys are pretty nice.

Meet me at the water front, after the social.

This is what I look like after 22 hours being up, going to sleep with the moon... That is SXSW.

the best part about today...
I get to take all these Austin related emails, files and crap, and just store it in a little digital box. Hopefully, never to be seen again.

Goldfield

Today's music..."Goldfield", by Rock Votolato, from the album "Makers". (couldn't find a online version of Rocky singing this song. But here is a girl covering the song on youtube.)

here is me today...

Austin can be a bit of a cluster fuck during any given weekend. Now add a festival. HOLY CRAP! Lets just say everything is Fast and Loose. Nothing is quite organized how it should be. Because honestly, events like this maybe shouldn't happen. It is pretty amazing that the town doesn't just burn down every year. Some people really enjoy it. But from a event organizer or artist crew side, not so much.

Here comes day 1/event 1 of the IHEARTCOMIX SXSW/Austin 2008. Things are starting off well. Knock on wood.

Today's song, "Sick of Dreaming", by the Murder City Devils. It is from their first album.

Here I am. Getting ready to fly out to Austin. Wish me luck.

We want revolution...Roadie style...NOW!!!

I know, kind of changed it up. I want you to understand how loud and messy my brain is right now. So go grab/download, that copy of Bikini Kill's "Pussy Whipped". Put it on and feel my brain.

Here I am toady:

So I have spent the better part of the day going over every email I have received over the past month. All relating to SXSW. Had to double check that I had all the contact info from bands, riders and etc. But chances are I might have missed a number or two. But that is, OK. I will be sending more emails soon. And maybe those bands will respond to those. maybe I should just list the names of the bands here. Then if you know them, you can tell them to get the fuck a hold of me.

It is kind of funny. Every time I TM'd I was wondering why the hell Production Managers never called me back. I wrongly assumed that by being on the other side, things would work out better. Here I am, 5 days until the Austin Blowout, and I am still missing about half the Artist info.

Well other things are going well.

I thought I would end this blog would a list of thoughts and happenings of the last month:

* Everyone is wrong (including me)

* I can't seem to stay off the road

* In less then two months I have gotten two flats. I now have 4 new tires, two less hubcaps, and a shitty donut (got to get a full size spare.)

* My car eats gas in the city... Saves it up on the highway.

* traffic does suck

* riding my bike rules!

You all have a good day. I will post more pics soon. Don't expect any 'till well after SXSW.

unicorns and rainbows,
Dylan Roadie

Over and Over...

Today's theme song for my blog is a great song by a fun band from the UK.

"Over and Over" by HOT CHIP!

I woke up at 4 am today. Two reasons. I went to bed before 11pm...my body likes to only get 6 hours sleep...my brain hates this. The other reason, I got a text message from my friend Clint Catalyst. I am doing a job for him and he was still up preparing for it.

This job? Hand delivering Embroidered Invites to a Jared Gold/Black Chandelier Fashion Show. I delivered 22 of these things to executives all over the entertainment world of West LA/Santa Monica. Boy howdy was that not so fun. Definitely interesting though. You know what they say, about LA traffic.

Now, I am back to the SXSW grind. I am doing the Production Management for IHEARTCOMIX. Our shows are big...our guestlists bigger.

Have a great day!

Update!
This is why I drove around all day!

(More tickets were just 'released' today, now that the L.A. Times calendar section came out...where they listed his event as #1 among "Things To Do")

C'mon:
ALL of Union Station closed down for some
SERIOUSLY
DELIRIOUS
GLAMOUR?
What the hell else are you plannin' on doing the 14th?

Pickin' your nose and flickin' boogers at cars on the 101?

Come on and Dance!

Stealing this idea from my brother. A photo booth pic. Maybe I will remember to do it often. You might have noticed that I shaved. That was the longest I had a moustache.

Last night I played some records at the Beauty Bar in Hollywood. It was the IHEARTCOMIX, Monday event, Still Fucking Awesome. Franki is out of town so Trouble Jr. and I had to fill in. Aparently the people that come at 10pm don't know who Fugazi are. In fact I couldn't get them to move hardly at all.

My Set:
Summer Nights (Grease Soundtrack)
Trash (NY Dolls)
Come on and Dance (Motley Crue)
LIttle Red Book (Toni Basil) *couldn't find a copy of Toni covering it. So here is the cut by the amazing Arthur Lee and the band LOVE.
Boom Swagger Boom (Murder CIty Devils)
Waiting Room (Fugazi)
Don't Lose Touch (Against Me!) *maybe I should have played the Mouse on Mars remix, rather then the album cut.
Romantic Rights(DFA 1979)
Jump (House of Pain)
OPP (Naughty by Nature)
Deeper Shade of Soul (Urban Dance Squad)

Fuck 'em if they can't dance!
